Julianne Laurie Pinhole Camera Week-1


FRONT

1. Experimental:  Camera Mask. Right

The reason I choose to make a mask with eyes is because the very thing we cannot see is how another see's use. We can't see ourselves, we can't see our brightest smiles, we can't see how imperfectly perfect we truly are. As for the markings on the face, it was just suppose to shape out where our nose is and help give effect of a face more.  

Made of:
    -poster paper, black 
    - Gorilla tape
    - tin foil
    - pop can

2. Functioning Camera:  The box. Left 

For this Camera, I used this tutorial: Pinhole box
This tutorial at the bottom has a link to a cut out of a pin hole camera. The reason why I choose this was because it was the simplest way to start and try to understand just how a pin hole works. This camera also made it so that I could take decent sized pictures, while not using a whole sheet every time I experimented.

  Depth of  field Originally I understood depth of field as two focus points. So when I did this project I misunderstood and did this image first. I didn't do a proper contact contact sheet for this image because I had a good idea how long this image would take after the first image. // In the top left hand corner is this image//  image: a  85 seconds with filter 3 + 10 at filter 4.  35mm lens Image: b 85 seconds, filter 3 + 15 second at filter 4 35mm lens These images do have a twin it was suppose to go with it, but I never developed it so I only have it as film because after I was corrected of what was required. NEGATIVE 1. Self Portrait: Image details:      -box camera (  Middle and side pieces. )      - 3 second exposure     - 4:30pm Direct sun light This image is my self portrait. I choose this set up because I was hoping by having the two images on the side of the camera I would make one big image. I did it this way because placing the paper and wrapping didn't work, the paper kept falling when I walked out.  POSITIVE   NEGATIVE  2. final project- Perfectly Imperfect

  For this final project I choose originally just to do my art journey and where I started and where I am in that second. In my series thou I started to think about more about the meaning I was trying to share. More of what artist now a day are expected, what everyone thinks an artist "should be." Especially in illustration and animation where I wish to stand one day.  So for my series I choose the theme " Perfectly Imperfect " because as an artist we present ourselves as perfect when in reality we only look perfect because we are all imperfect. So my pieces I choose my art journey and how learning to be the "perfect" artist means leaning to be the most "imperfect" artist possible.  This is why my pieces are not spotted, they are a bit messy and nothing is perfect in these images because they are perfect by being imperfect.  Biggest struggle I had with this project is my images being all over expose from light because I was in my studio with brig...
